Yep. Pinterest Story Pins (*now called Idea Pins*) are a thing. If you’ve heard about it and are wondering what’s up, I’d love to share what it is + my initial thoughts not this new feature.
“You can use Story Pins to include multiple images, videos, lists and custom text in a single Pin. Like other Pins, Story Pins will stay on your boards once you’ve published them.”
It’s basically like a slideshow of pins that are a little longer than the typical pin length and that can be edited within the platform. DIY projects and recipes are common uses so far.
There’s no linking back to your site available yet. It’s basically content created specifically for Pinterest to keep a user on the platform instead of sending them away for more info. I feel like the beauty of Pinterest is that it’s a traffic driver and only requires creatively reusing other content rather than starting fresh…
We’ll see what changes are made to this feature as it becomes available to everyone, but at the moment I’m still a little skeptical. I think it’s worth a try (Pinterest favors people who uses their different features) BUT I wouldn’t and don’t spend tons of time on it because I don’t believe it has a great ROI yet.
What do you guys think about it? Would you enjoy that feature as a user?
